As the Head of the Department of Political Science at the University of Ghana, I am delighted to welcome you to our esteemed Department, a cornerstone of the School of Social Sciences, which comprises five distinguished departments. Renowned as the premier Political Science Department in West Africa, we take pride in our unparalleled academic quality, the exceptional performance of our alumni in industry, and their consistent acceptance into prestigious graduate schools worldwide. As the largest and oldest Political Science Department in Ghana, we have a rich legacy of shaping intellectual discourse and fostering transformative leaders in the field.

Our department is dedicated to delivering a transformative student experience through rigorous academic programs in the core branches of Political Science: Political Theory, Development Politics, Public Administration, and International Politics.
